* Disk Mastering*

With the advent of violet diode technology, the days of gas lasers in disc mastering were numbered. Previously installed Krypton lasers feature several drawbacks, e.g. high power consumption and heat dissipation. What's more, they could only operate in CW mode. Diode lasers, however, are brilliant in power and efficiency and can even be modulated directly. No AOM is required anymore. Moreover, long warm-up times are a matter of the past.
The lifetime of violet diodes exceeds 10.000 hours, much longer typical operation times of violet gas lasers. For refurbishment, only the diode needs to be exchanged. As an exclusive benefit, the electronics of TOPTICA's industrial lasers is able to predict an expected end of life. Planning of refurbishment turns to be very easy and economic; you arrange for the exchange during a usual system downtime and thus increase the uptime of your mastering system.
Whilst a designer of a mastering system previously had to pay attention to required space for gas laser heads, bulky power supplies and potential water hoses, all of these obstacles are obsolete now. Diode lasers are extremely compact and allow you to use this space for different components or configure your system smaller than before.
